Laper, Mary J. (11 Aug. 1878 - 15 July 1960)

Mrs. Mary J. Laper died of a heart ailment at her home in Abbotsford Friday afternoon at the age of 81 years. She had been ailing the past four years. Grief brought on by the death of her only son, Floyd, victim of a shooting accident at Unity July 8, is believed to have aggravated Mrs. Laper’s condition before her death.

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Laper at Christ Lutheran church at Abbotsford Monday afternoon by Rev. F. H. Sprengler and internment was made in the Abbotsford cemetery.

Mary Jeanette Nagel was born in Racine on August 11, 1878, and was married there on August 13, 1896, to Ernest Laper who survives her. The couple began farming in Taylor county shortly after their marriage and moved to Abbotsford from Stetsonville about 19 years ago.

Other survivors are seven grand children; a half-sister, Mrs. Mary Schatz of Kenosha; a half-brother, William Hemple of Milwaukee and a sister, Mrs. Jessie Jenkins of Racine. Two sisters, one brother and her son preceded her in death.
