Rockney, Verna Lou (Marriage - 30 September 1950)
Verna Lou Rockney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Rockney of Black River Falls, became the bride of Charles W. Scherer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Scherer of Neillsville, on Saturday, September 30, 1950, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Black River Falls. Rev. Fr. Koopman officiated in a setting of baskets of white mums and pink asters.
The bride wore a gold suit and hat with brown accessories. Her attendants, Lola Rockney and Betty Amundson, wore dark blue and tan suits respectively. Lola is a sister of the bride.
A reception was held following the ceremony for about 80 relatives and guests. Dinner was served at the home of the bride’s parents for immediate relatives and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Scherer are now at home in an apartment on South Grand Avenue following their honeymoon to Chicago and points in the southern part of the state.
Guests here for the wedding and who stayed over the weekend at the Nick Scherer home were Charles Snyder and Frank Miller of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. Math Scherer of La Crosse.
