Zenz, Emma (20 APR 1868 - 21 APR 1944)

Mrs. Joseph Zenz died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Kreuser, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Apr. 21, the day following her 76th birthday anniversary. She had been confined to her bed nine weeks after suffering a stroke.

Emma Ertz was born at Lancaster on Apr. 20, 1868, and was married there on Nov. 26, 1889, to Joseph Zenz. They came to Loyal in 1903 and settled on a farm just west of the village, remaining there until 17 years, when they moved into the village.

Mr. and Mrs. Zenz celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary the 26th day of last November.

Surviving Mrs. Zenz are her husband, her daughter, Mrs. Kreuser, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was the youngest of a family of seven children, all of whom preceded her in death. Her only son, Joseph Jr., died in 1934. Funeral services were conducted at St. Anthony’s Catholic church at 9 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Aloys Zinthefer officiating at the requiem high mass. Interment was in the church cemetery.

With her friendly interest in others and her kind ways toward all, Mrs. Zenz endeared herself to those who knew her.

Pallbearers were Nick Beaver, William Theisen, Bert Brown. John Elsinger, John Geiger and Mike Beaver.

Those from away who came to attend the funeral were Mrs. Al Goetz of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Zenz of Patch Grove, Andrew Zenz, Matt Zenz and Oscar Brady of Lancaster, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Lindner, Mrs. Anna Lindner and Herbert Pink of Greenwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Florence and daughter and Frank Pink and daughter, Mary, of Auburndale.

The Tribune adds its sympathy to that of friends and neighbors to the bereaved relatives.
