Two Persons Killed in Clark County Crash
Two persons were killed and a third is in serious condition in Memorial Hospital at Neillsville as the result of a head-on automobile collision about a mile south of the intersection of Highways 10 and 12 near Fairchild during a heavy rainstorm early Sunday night.
The dead are Miss Nancy Elliot of Madison, age 22, a graduate of Wisconsin General Hospital School of Nursing, and former Stanley resident, who was killed instantly, and Lovoro Gustin of Lynn Lake, Manitoba, Canada, age 24, who died of head injuries in Memorial Hospital several hours after the accident.
Gustin’s companion, Sigfried Krauss, also of Lynn Lake, age 24, is suffering head and chest injuries, a fractured leg, and multiple cuts and bruises. Memorial Hospital attendants said his condition is serious and that he could not be questioned for details of the accident.
Miss Elliot was driving alone and was en route to Eau Claire to visit a sister. Krauss and Gustin, both employees of the Sherett-Gordon Mines, Ltd., at Lynn Lake, are believed to have been en route to Chicago.
A Canadian Royal Mounted Police officer at Lynn Lake told Clark county authorities in a telephone conversation that he understood one of the men, presumably Gustin, was to be married *** Note: The remainder of this article was missing.
