Wohlleben, Walter, Mrs. (? - 13 JUN 1950)

Mrs. Walter Wohlleben, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), died from severe burns Tuesday evening at 9:15 o’clock at the St. Joseph’s Hospital when a fire of undetermined origin caused only minor damages to her home about 7 o’clock Tuesday morning.

Fire Chief Louis Boardman reported that Mrs. Wohlleben suffered burns to 90 percent of her body when she apparently tried to put out the fire, which confined itself to three rooms in the second story of the Wohlleben home.

The fire was discovered by Mrs. Ed Asselin, a neighbor, who notice smoke coming from the building. The Thorp volunteer fire department responded to the alarm and extinguished the blaze. Most of the damage was confined to that done by water.

Mrs. Wohlleben was alone in the house when the blaze was discovered. Walter, local depot agent for the Soo line railroad, was called to work early Tuesday morning because of a washout outside of Thorp.
