Luchterhand,
Laura (October 20, 1899 - 15 February 1971)
Funeral services for Mrs.
Laura Luchterhand, 71, of Rt. 2 Spencer, who died at her home February 15, were
held Friday, February 19, at 11 a.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal with
the Rev. William Humlie officiating. Interment was in the Lutheran Cemetery in
Loyal.
Mrs. Luchterhand, the former Laura Breier, was born October 20,
1899, at Manawa, where she lived as a child. She worked for her uncle in
Spokeville before her marriage to Alvin Luchterhand, which took place September
1, 1920, in Manawa. They farmed in Loyal Township where she lived for the
remained of her lifetime.
Mrs. Luchterhand was a member of Trinity
Lutheran Church and of Trinity Lutheran Church Women. She was treasurer of a
Senior Citizens group and was a charter member of the Spokeville homemakers
club.
Survivors include five children, Robert Luchterhand of Spencer,
Orville Luchterhand of Granton, Melvin Luchterhand of Loyal, Gerald Luchterhand
of Spencer, and Mrs. Donald (Doreen) Schmidtke of Odebolt, Ia.; 14 grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister, Mrs. Alfred
(Alice) Bonikowski of Manawa; and by three brothers, William Breier and Walter
Breier, both of Manawa, and John Breier of Weyauwega.
Pallbearers were
Gary, Lynn, Mike, Kenneth, and Dale Luchterhand, and Bill Dankemyer, Jr. Mrs.
Verland Dux and Mrs. Erwin Dux sang “My Jesus as Thou Wilt” and “Peace, Perfect
Peace.” They were accompanied by Mrs. Kenneth Voss.
