Nohr, Mary (Conochan) (June 10, 1855 - February 5, 1945)
Former Hotel Owner Dies At Stevens Point
Mrs. Mary Norhr, 89, died at Stevens Point Monday, February 5, after an illness of a few days.
Mrs. Nohr, formerly Mary Conochan, was born at Westport, Wis., June 10, 1855.
She spent her early life in Westport and at the age of 16, started her career as a hotel operator. She worked in Rhinelander until 1894 when she married Merton Nohr, a Wisconsin Central Railroad engineer.
The couple resided in Ashland until 1903 when they moved to Abbotsford where Mrs. Nohr started in the hotel business.
In 1911, the family moved to Stevens Point where Mrs. Norhr operated the newly built Majestic Hotel.
