McNeight, Geraldine (McDonald) (18 DEC 1911 - 25 SEP 2013)

Geraldine McNeight, 101, passed away September 25, 2013 In Dayton, Ohio.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013, at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. The Rev. Robert Streveler will preside. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may call on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Edgar Elementary School Library c/o Mary Kanady 6255 Overture Drive, West Carrollton, OH 45449

Geraldine McNeight 101, passed away September 25, 2013 In Dayton, OH.

She was born to Magdalene and Alexander McDonald in Fenwood, Wisconsin on December 18th, 1911. On July 14th, 1945 she married Verner H. McNeight in Edgar, WI.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers Lloyd, Harold, Gerald, Clair, Donavon, Orvis and Ira McDonald and sisters Almira McDonald and Stella Puerner. She is survived by her children William (Karen) McNeight, Fairbanks, AK, Mary (Jim) Kanady, Dayton, OH, Kay (Jim) Blue, Toledo, OH.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Mark (Ginger), Jill, Errin, Elaine, Jeremy and Rex McNeight, Michael (Robin) Kanady, Karilyn Kanady (Matt Whalen), Alexander & Sagan Blue. She is also survived by one great granddaughter Miranda McNeight.

Geraldine was a graduate of St John’s Elementary School in Edgar, WI, Edgar HS (1930), Marathon County Normal School (1931), WI State University Stevens Point (1963) and she received her Master's Degree from the University of Superior in 1972.

Geraldine was an educator in Marathon County for 40 years taking a short break to raise her family. She was co-owner and operator of the Farmers Implement Center in the Town of Reitbrock where she resided. She started her teaching career in a one room school and retired as principal of the Edgar Elementary and Middle School. After her retirement in 1980 she moved to Dayton, OH to be with her family there.

She was involved in many volunteer activities with the local schools that her grandchildren attended. She was very active in the St Henry Parish there. A Memorial Mass was held at St Henry's on September 28, 2013.In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Edgar Elementary School Library c/o Mary Kanady 6255 Overture Drive, West Carrollton, OH 45449.
