Katherine J. Tomczak, 79, of Stanley and formerly of Thorp, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at her home.

Arrangements are pending at Thorp Funeral Home.

STANLEY -- Katherine J. Tomczak, 79, of Stanley, formerly of Thorp, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at her home in Stanley.

A memorial service along with inurnment will be held at a later date.

Katherine Julie Perla was born Sept. 21, 1929, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, to Joseph and Tekla (Dzugala) Perla. She was united in marriage to Theodore Tomczak on March 26, 1951, in Toledo, Ohio. He preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 1997.

She lived for a few years in Blue Island, Ill., before moving to Chicago where she worked as a seamstress in the clothing department at Evans Department Store. After retiring in 1986, Katherine and Ted moved to Thorp.

She is survived by a daughter, Susan Tomczak of San Francisco, Calif.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bernice Perla, Winnie Perla and Mary Cisowski, all of Montreal, Quebec.

Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
