Merwin, Emily E. (25 Aug. 1861 - 2 Jan. 1961)
Mrs. Emily E. Merwin, a town of Holton homesteader and a former resident of Abbotsford, Wisconsin, died Monday in the Golden Age Rest Home at Rib Lake, where she had been the past year, at the age of 99 years. Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock in the First Presbyterian church in Abbotsford, Rev. L. F. Faivre officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.
Mrs. Merwin was born in Claridan, N.Y., August 25, 1861, and moved to the town of Holton at the age of four with her parents, among the first settlers there. She was married on April 21, 1878, to Ben Merwin who died on July 29, 1917. She was a charter member of the Presbyterian Women’s Association at Abbotsford and president of the WCTU there for many years.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. William Ouimette of Park Falls, Mrs. A. J. Hennlich of Curtiss and Mrs. L. F. Loucks of Abbotsford; five sons, Ben and Howard Merwin of ?, Arthur of ? and Ernest of ?; 96 great grandchildren and 20 great great grandchildren.
