Schmitt, Rita (Marriage - 22 July 1940)
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Peterson are at home to their friends on their farm three and one-half miles east of Abbotsford, Wis.
Their marriage was solemnized at a nuptial high mass in St. Mary’s church, Colby, Monday morning at nine o’clock. The Rev. J. L. Lang performed the ceremony in the church which was beautifully decorated with garden flowers and lighted candles.
Miss Rita Schmitt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Schmitt of Colby, made a charming bride in her gown of mousseline de soie with illusion and entrained veils which were crowned with a seed pearl tiara. She carried a bouquet of red roses and baby breath tied with a large white bow.
Three sisters attended the bride in identical gowns of organdy marquisette which were floor length: Miss Naomi, as maid of honor, in aqua blue, and the Misses Maude and Carmen, in yellow and pink. The three attendants wore face veils with a wreath of flowers and wrist corsages.
Vernon Peterson, brother of the groom as best man, Otto Gabriel and Victor Schmitt attended the groom.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. Dinner and supper were served to about 60 guests. In the evening a wedding dance was held at the Trianon Gardens.
