Schlinsog, Evelyn Florence (21 January 1921 - 12 February 2009)

Evelyn Schlinsog, 88, of Marshfield, formerly of Granton, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at the Golden Living Center - Three Oaks, Marshfield.

Evelyn Florence Schlinsog was born Jan. 21, 1921, in Unity the daughter of Hugo and Hulda (Ihlenfeld) Schuette. She attended school in Loyal and graduated from Colby High School. Evelyn then moved to Neillsville and worked as a secretary at Svetlik Motors and AAA in the county office. She was united in marriage to Paul G. Schlinsog Sept. 1, 1945, at St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Unity, Wis. After their marriage they farmed in Granton until retiring in 1982. After retiring, they continued to live on the farm. Paul died Feb. 24, 1996, and in 1999 Evelyn moved to Marshfield into the Wells Nature View CBRF. She lived there for seven years and then moved into the Three Oaks Nursing Home in May of 2006.

Evelyn was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Granton until moving to Marshfield when she became a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hewitt. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, sewing and crocheting.

She is survived by her son, Darwin (Judy) Schlinsog of Hewitt; a granddaughter, Amy Jo (Dustin Kuhlka) Schlinsog of Oshkosh; two step-granddaughters, Tammy (Tom) Hardinger of Marshfield and Tracy (Brad) Smith of Denver, CO; six step-great-grandchildren, Luke, Katie, Sam, Will and Jake Hardinger and Jonah Smith. Evelyn is further survived by two brothers, Orville (Catherine) Schuette of Curtiss and Merlin (Florence) Schuette of Marshfield; a sister, Arlene (Calvin) Schulz of Marshfield; a sister-in-law, Lydia Montgomery of Marshfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a sister, Ethel Gerber; brothers-in-law, Francis Gerber and Allen Montgomery; a niece, Janice Schuette; and nephew, Jim Schuette.

A Memorial service for Evelyn will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hewitt. Pastor Dean Pingel will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday at the Church. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Granton at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Debt Fund, 7735 Yellowstone Dr. Hewitt, WI 54441.

The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Evelyn’s family with funeral arrangements.
