Rivers, Frank (22 MAR 1880 - 24 SEP 1950)

Frank Rivers, 70, of Stanley and formerly of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), was killed Sunday at 11 a.m. at Neshkoro, when the car in which he was riding left the road and turned over.

His sister-in-law, Agnes Callahan of Neshkoro, who was driving the car, was seriously injured. She was taken to the Neshkoro hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Rivers had gone to Neshkoro for a weekend visit.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, the Rev. Ralph Geisler officiating. Burial at the church cemetery.

Mr. Rivers was born March 22, 1880, near Red Granite. He married Elizabeth Callahan in 1912 at Neshkoro. Mr. Rivers came to Thorp in 1910 and was employed by the Thorp Dairy Co. as butter maker. He was an accomplished musician and spent much of his time as orchestra leader. He moved with his family to Stanley in 1924, where he went into business. He was a past member of the Stanley City Council and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife and three daughters, Mrs. Plombon of Stanley, Colletta of Eau Claire, and Mrs. John Featherstone of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. One son, Truman, died in Jan. 1944.
