Funeral services for Mrs. Vivian D.
Seltrecht, 79, of Neillsville, who died March 5, were held Monday, March 8, at
1:30 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home with the Rev. George E. Yons of the
United Church of Christ officiating. Interment was in the Neillsville City
Cemetery.
Mrs. Seltrecht, the daughter of George and Madge (Darling)
Ure, was born in Neillsville on October 3, 1891. She was educated in Neillsville
Public Schools. Her family farmed in the Town of Lynn and at Spring Valley. Her
first marriage which took place September 13, 1920, was to Milton F. Page, who
died in 1957. They farmed in the Town of Pine Valley.
Her marriage to
William Seltrecht took place in 1944 at Bremerton, Wash., where she was employed
in the Navy ship yards. They returned to Neillsville in 1946. Mr. Seltrecht died
in 1953. Mrs. Seltrecht had been in failing health since she broke her hip four
years ago.
Survivors include a daughter, LaVerne, Mrs. Harry Wedekind of
Neillsville; two grandchildren, Mrs. David (Susan) Hopfer of Neillsville and
James Wedekind; and one great-granddaughter, Sheila Hopfer.
Mrs.
Seltrecht was a member of the United Church of Christ, Golden Link Camp of the
Royal Neighbors of America, the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Pallbearers were: Charles Meier, Herman Dahnert, Earl Bruhn, John Bryan,
James Musil, and Fred Subke. Mrs. Edison Mathis sang “Beautiful Isle of
Somewhere” and “Beyond the Sunset,” accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.
Those from out-of-town who attended the services included: Mrs. John Damon of
Rothschild, Mr. and Mrs. Craig Montag and Cara of Augusta, Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Ure and Lloyd Ure of Granton, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lindow of Chili, and Mr. and Mrs.
Elmer Krause of Marshfield.
