Bissell, David Ray (21 March 1885 - 26 December 1950)

Funeral services were conducted on Friday afternoon at the Georgas Funeral Home for David Ray Bissell, age 65, who died at the Neillsville hospital on Tuesday at 1:55. The Rev. Virgil Nulton officiated at the two o’clock services and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Bissell was born in the Town of Pine Valley on March 21, 1885 to Anson and Arvila Evans Bissell. He received his education in the Pine Valley Schools. He worked in the canning factory and at the Fullerton Lumber Company.

He is survived by two nieces, Mrs. Walter (Esther) Lighthizer of Augusta, and Mrs. John (Blanch) Dickinson of Merrillan, also several cousins in this vicinity. One sister preceded him in death and one brother, Aaron, better known as LeRoy died in 1943.

Pallbearers were Lester Landgraf, Walter Lueck, Rudolph Frantz, Charles Lueck, Ernest Karnitz, and Perry Balliett. Miss Carol Peterson sang two selections accompanied by Mrs. Virgil Nulton at the piano.

Persons from out of town attending the rites were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lighthizer and family, Mr. and Mrs. Arden Troxel and Perry Balliett of Augusta, Mr. and Mrs. John Dickinson and Mrs. C. J. Dickinson, Sr. of Merrillan, C. J. Dickinson of St. Paul, and Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Evans of Owen.
