Jacobi, Augusta (16 Aug. 1861 - 3 Oct. 1940)
Mrs. Augusta Jacobi, age 79, died of a heart ailment at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Bernitt, this afternoon. The body will lie in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home at Colby until Monday afternoon when services will be conducted at two o’clock at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Abbotsford, Wis. Internment will be made in the Holton cemetery.
Mrs. Jacobi, a pioneer resident, is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Frank Bernitt, Abbotsford; three sons, Edwin, Henry and Herbert, Town of Holton. There are 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Augusta Jacobi, Monday afternoon, at 1:30 at the Lulloff funeral home, Colby, and at 2:00 o’clock at Christ Evangelical Lutheran church. The Rev. J. Brandt conducted the services, during which hymns were sung by the children’s choir and one by members of the Ladies’ Aid. Internment was made in the Town of Holton cemetery.
Grand children of Mrs. Jacobi acted as pallbearers and flower girls. The pallbearers were Harvey, Lawrence, Gilbert, Alvin, Melvin and Ervin Jacobi. Flower girls were Mrs. Matt Lamp, Atwood; Mrs. Roy Utke, Owen; Mrs. John Stange, Curtiss; Mrs. Lee Ouimette, Wausau, and Miss Ellen Jacobi, Abbotsford, Wis.
Among the relatives from away who attended the funeral were Henry Schmitz and son, Otto, Manitowoc; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Roderwaldt, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Jacobi, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schumberg, William Roderwaldt, Newton; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Schutt, Carl Layman, Mrs. Anna Wirth and daughter, Marie, Miss Mabel Wirth, Sheboygan; Mrs. Herman Schumberg, De Kalb, Ill.; Mrs. Anton Stallman and daughter, Lorraine, Corinth.
Mrs. Augusta Jacobi was born Augusta Schmitz, Aug. 16, 1861, in Newton. In 1880 she was united in marriage to Henry Jacobi of Centerville. Immediately after their marriage they moved to the Town of Holton where they established a home in the wilderness. They lived on the farm until 1912 when they moved to Colby, Wis. In 1919 they came to Abbotsford to make their home.
While in the Town of Holton they were among the first to organize the St. John Lutheran congregation. While living in Colby they were members of the Zion congregation and after coming to Abbotsford they became members of Christ Lutheran church. Mrs. Jacobi was an active member of the Ladies’ Aid.
Mrs. Jacobi, the mother of six children, enjoyed good health all her life until 18 months ago, when she was seriously ill with a heart ailment. She recovered from this until a month ago when she again became ill. Since the last illness she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Frank Bernitt, where she died at noon on Thursday, Oct. 3.
Mrs. Jacobi is survived by 4 children, Henry and Edwin, Town of Holton; Herbert, Marathon City; and Mrs. Frank Bernitt, Abbotsford, Wis. Twenty-three grand children, three great grand children, a brother, Henry Schmitz, Manitowoc also survive. Her husband and two children preceded her in death.
