Hubing, Charles Michael (2 March 1895 - 23 March 1971)
Funeral
services for Charles Michael Hubing, 76, of Neillsville, who died March 23, at
his home, are to be held Friday, March 26, at 2 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral
Home. The Rev. Melvin Nickel of the United Methodist Church is to officiate,
with burial to be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The body of Mr. Hubing
will be in state beginning this (Thursday) morning.
Charles Hubing, the
son of Nicholas and Mary (Peutz) Hubing, was born March 2, 1895, in the Town of
Grant. He attended the Kurth School. As a young man he did farm work, and then
went out west to work in the harvest fields there. He enlisted in the army at
Beach, N. D., on August 1, 1917, and served as a driver for the Evacuation
Ambulance Division in France. Upon receiving his discharge from the service at
Camp Dodge, Ia., in July of 1919, he returned to the Town of Grant where he
farmed until his retirement in 1946.
His marriage to the former Lila
Davis took place in Granton on March 9, 1925. The Hubings moved to Neillsville
in 1947 and have lived here since that time. Mr. Hubing was a member of
Wilson-Heintz Post No. 2241 VFW and of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
Survivors include his wife, Lila; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Charlotte)
Jacob of Ellsworth and Mrs. William (Luann) Hoffman of Battle Creek, Mich.; and
three grandchildren. He is further survived by three sisters: Mrs. Clara Coppins
of Ft. Atkinson, Mrs. Celia Root, of Knowlton, and Mrs. Herbert (Marie) Halstead
of West Union, Ia.; and a brother George Hubing of Neillsville.

Funeral
services for Charles M. Hubing, 76, of Neillsville, who died at his home March
23, were held Friday, March 26, at 2 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home. The
Rev. Melvin Nickel of the United Methodist Church officiated and burial was made
in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers for Mr. Hubing were: Walter
Brown, Ernest Kuechenmeister, Ronald Gluch, Leonard Schultz, George Erickson,
and Carl Eisentraut. Mrs. Sarah Smigelski sang “Be Still, My Soul” and “Children
of the Heavenly Father.” She was accompanied by Mrs. Jas. A. Musil.
