Dehne, Arnold E. "Arnie" (December 13, 1919 - February 16, 2009)

Arnold E. "Arnie" Dehne, age 89, of Greenwood, formerly of Colby, died at the Clark County Health Care Center, in Owen, on Monday, Feb. 16, 2009.

Arnold Edward Dehne was born on December 13, 1919, in Colby, to Edward and Lydia (Ortmeier) Dehne.

He was raised on the family farm and received his education at the Colby Graded School.

As a young man, Arnie worked for several years on the family farm and also worked in construction. He was united in marriage to Tyrni (Leino) Veurink on June 20, 1964, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Withee. Arnie worked for Abbyland Meats as a meat cutter for seven years and then opened up his own butchering and meat cutting business in Withee. He spent 25 years as a meat cutter before retiring in the late 1980s. His wife, Tyrni, passed away in 1991.

Arnie married Alice (Wendt) Olson on June 11, 1994. They lived in Greenwood until the time of his death.

He was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Colby, and had many interests, but especially loved dancing and spending time at his cottage in Holcombe, boating and fishing with his friends.

Arnie will be sadly missed by his wife, Alice of Greenwood; five stepchildren, Jerry Olson of Burnsville, Minn., Duane (Donna) Olson of Greenwood, Dick (Margie) Olson of Holmen, Diane (Wayne) Nielsen of Greenwood, and Sandy (Kenneth) Shields of Rockwall, Texas; 15 step grandchildren; 22 step great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray (Lois) Dehne of Owen; one nephew, Ronald (Sally) Dehne of La Mesa, Calif.; and one sister-in-law, Sue Dehne of Colorado Spring, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Tyrni; one step daughter, Mae Bruckert; one step great-granddaughter; two brothers, Paul and Elmore Dehne; and one sister, Gertrude Masiewicz.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, at the First United Church of Christ, in Colby, Wis. Rev. Kenneth A. Dix and Rev. Terri Blomberg officiated and burial followed in Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Jeffrey Olson, Jeremy Olson, Travis Olson, Chad Olson, Dustin Olson, Andy Nielsen and Ryan Nielsen. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Olson, Duane Olson, Dick Olson, Wayne Nielsen, Kenneth Shields and Norman Knutson.

Visitation was held at Cuddie Funeral Home in Greenwood, on Thursday, Feb. 19, from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
