Dawson, Miree "Kim" (6 JUL 1941 - 23 OCT
2013)
Miree "Kim" Dawson, age 72, of Abbotsford, passed away on
Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the House of the Dove in Marshfield, with her loving
family by her side.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 26 at
Zion Lutheran Church in Colby, with Rev. Mark Neumann officiating. Burial
followed the service at Colby Memorial Cemetery.
Kim was born on July 6,
1941 in Korea. She was married to Elmer Dawson in Korea, who brought her back to
live in the United States. They later divorced. She worked for 27 years at
Tombstone Pizza in Medford until retirement, where she was loved and remembered
fondly.
Her joys in life included spending time with her children,
grandchildren and even her "grand-doggies." She always had quite a lucky hand at
gambling, and was an avid fisherman while she was enjoying her time at the cabin
in Chetek with Paul Dins. A favorite pastime was crocheting and embroidering,
and she spent many hours making dishcloths and towels to be gifted to friends
and family. Kim loved flowers and bird watching, even though much of that time
was spent trying to make sure the squirrels didn't steal all the bird seed.
Family gatherings consisted of huge Korean feasts with much time spent
thoroughly enjoying the food and family, and she always brought much laughter to
the occasion. Kim had a very giving nature and her laugh was contagious. She
could light up any room she walked into with her smile and friendly nature. She
was only a little over five feet tall, but her strength of character and strong
will were prominent.
Kim is lovingly survived by her children, Glen
(Virginia) Dawson of Janesville, James (Caryn) Dawson of Milwaukee and Marilyn
(Dan Wolfgram) Dawson of Marshfield, and eight grandchildren, Benjamin Bedroske
of Milwaukee, Emily (Ian) Zimmerman of Milwaukee, Nicholas Bedroske of Eau
Claire, and Jimmy, Alexa, Sierra, Chaz and Asher Dawson, all of Milwaukee. She
is further survived by special friends, Paul Dins and Rita Dins Ashenbrenner,
and Soh "Francis" Jewett, as well as many other friends too numerous to mention.
She is preceded in death by a special friends, Allen Dins.
The
Maurina Schilling Funeral Home of Abbotsford assisted the family with
arrangements.
