Dehne, Arnold E. #2 (13 DEC 1919 - 16 FEB 2009)

Arnold E. Dehne, 89, Greenwood, formerly of Chili, died on Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at the Clark County Health Care Center, Owen. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., on Thursday, Feb. 19, at Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, and on Friday, Feb. 20, at First United Church of Christ, Colby, from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. The Rev. Kenneth A. Dix will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Arnold E. "Arnie" Dehne, 89, Greenwood, formerly of Colby, Wis. died on Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at the Clark County health Care Center, Owen. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 20, at the First United Church of Christ, Colby, Wis. The Rev. Kenneth A. Dix and the Terri Blomberg officiated. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery, Withee. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Jeffrey Olson, Jeremy Olson, Travis Olson, Chad Olson, Dennis Olson, Dustin Olson, Andy Nielsen and Ryan Nielsen. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Olson, Duane Olsen, Wayne Nielsen, Kenneth Shields and Norman Knutson.

Arnold Edward Dehne was born on Dec. 13, 1919, in Colby, to Edward and Lydia (nee Ortmeier) Dehne. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at the Colby Graded School. As a young man, he worked for several years on the family farm and also worked in construction. He married Tyrni (Nee Leino) Veurink on June 20, 1964, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee. He worked for Abbyland Meats as a meat cutter for seven years, and then opened up his own butchering and meat-cutting business in Withee. He spent 25 years as a meat cutter before retiring in the late 1980s. His wife passed away in 1991. He married Alice (nee Wendt) Olson on June 11, 1994. They lived in Greenwood until the time of his death. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Colby, and had many interests, but especially loved dancing, spending time at his cottage in Holcombe, boating and fishing with his friends.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Alice, Greenwood; five stepchildren, Jerry Olson, Burnsville, Minn., Duane (Donna) Olson, Greenwood, Dick (Margie) Olson, Holmen, Diane (Wayne) Nielsen, Greenwood, and Sandy (Kenneth) Shields, Rockwall, Texas; 15 step-grandchildren; 22 step great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray (Lois) Dehne, Owen; one nephew, Ronald (Sally) Dehne, LaMesa, Calif.; and one sister-in-law, Sue Dehne, Colorado Springs, Colo.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Tyrni; one stepdaughter, Mae Brukert; one step-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Paul Dehne and Elmore; and one sister, Gertrude Masiewicz.
