Zschernitz, Robert M. (30 December 1921 - 26
March 1971)
Funeral services for Robert M. Zschernitz, 49, of
Neillsville, who died March 26, were held Monday, March 29, at 10 a.m. from St.
Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Charles D. Brady officiated and burial was made
in the parish cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Georgas Funeral Home
where a 7:30 p.m. Sunday Rosary service was held.
Robert Zschernitz, the
son of Carl and Mathilda (Dobes) Zschernitz was born December 30, 1921, in
Neillsville, where he received his education. He entered military service with
the 128th Inf. of the National Guard on October 15, 1940, served in the Pacific
Theater of Operations and was discharged on June 24, 1945. Mr. Zschernitz
returned to Neillsville where he was employed by the Clark County Highway
department since 1945.
His marriage to the former Mildred Meissner took
place in St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Neillsville on May 20, 1950. He was a
member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife,
Mildred; four sons, Eugene, James, Dennis, and Todd, all at home; three sisters,
Mrs. Margaret Rae of Banning, Calif., Mrs. Max (Mary) Lukas of Neillsville, and
Mrs. Francis (Rose) Anderson of Black River Falls; and six brothers, Frank
Wendell of Black River Falls, Louis Zschernitz of Neillsville, Earl Zschernitz
of Eau Claire, Laverne Zschernitz of Stanley, Melvin Zschernitz of Marshfield,
and Glenn Zschernitz of Minneapolis, Minn.
Pallbearers were: Tom, Glenn,
Melvin, and Larry L. Zschernitz, Gerald E. Meissner, and William Wilsmann.
People attending the services from out of town included: Mr. and Mrs.
Laverne Zschernitz and family of Stanley, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Zschernitz, Karl
and Kathy of Minneapolis, Minn., Arnold Meissner, Myra and Donna of Stratford,
Mr. and Mrs. Hilbert Meissner, Bobby and Steve of Random Lake, Mr. and Mrs.
William Wilsmann of Hewitt, Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Sternitzky of North Fond du Lac,
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Meissner of Auburndale, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Meissner of
Chili, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Zasoba of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bever of
Cashton, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wendell, Edmund Zschernitz, Mr. and Mrs. Francis
Anderson and Nancy Volz, all of Black River Falls, and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin
Zschernitz and Mike, Mr and Mrs. Earl Meissner, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Ott, and Mr.
and Mrs. Emil Ott, all of Marshfield.

Highway Department attended the services in a body.
