Converse, Hugh V. (5 June 1879 - 26 April 1951)
Hugh V. Converse, 125 West Fourth Street, Neillsville, died at the local hospital on Thursday, April 26. Mr. Converse was 71 years old and had entered the hospital that afternoon.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday at two o’clock from the Georgas Funeral Home. Mr. Ralph Johnson of Marshfield officiated at the services. Burial was made in the Windfall Cemetery at Granton.
Mr. Converse was born on June 5, 1879, to Filmore and Amelia Converse. He spent his entire life in Clark County. He received his education in the rural schools of Clark County. He farmed most of his life and spent many winters working in logging camps.
On October 30, 1923, he was married to Martha Schmolke at Minneapolis. Four children were born to this union, Irene who is at home Frederick and Philmore of Milwaukee and Cpl. Robert Converse, U. S. Air Force, Langley Field, Va. He is survived by these children, his wife and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Coyle and Mrs. Myrtle Chapel of Granton. One sister and one brother preceded him in death.
About one and one half years ago he quit farming because of ill health and resided with Mrs. Converse and Irene in Neillsville.
