Litka, William F. (28 DEC 1878 - 23 SEP 1944)
The community was saddened when it heard of the death of William F, Litka, who passed away at his home at 7 o’clock Saturday morning, Sept. 23. He had been in ill health for 2 ½ years.
He was born in Brandenburg, Germany, on Dec. 28, 1878. In 1881 he came to America with his parents, who purchased the farm where he made his home until his death. He was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran church and was a faithful member. He served as supervisor for the town of Loyal for nine years from 1925 to 1934.
On Apr. 20, 1904, he was married to Miss Ida Foelske. To this union six children were born. He leaves to mourn his departure his sorrowing wife, four daughters, Mrs. Archie (Lucille) Komis of Milwaukee, Mrs. Edwin (Clara) Bauer of Marshfield, Mrs., Oscar (Laura) Bauer of Spencer and Mrs. Paul (Adeline) Otto of Milwaukee, and two sons, Orvin of Milwaukee, and Rueben, at home. One brother, Herman Litka of Beaver; four sisters, Mrs., Bertha Pickruhn of Greenwood, Mrs. Ella Philpott of Loyal, Mrs. Anna Stowe of Beaver and Mrs. Amelia Lydiksen of Unity, and 13 grandchildren, also survive. The deceased attained the age of 65 years, eight months and 25 days.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 27, with services at the home at 2 p.m. and at Trinity Lutheran church in Loyal at 2:30, the Rev. J. C. Langholz officiating. Two songs, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Lead the Way," were sung by the choir, with Mrs. Marvin Seeman as organist. Burial was in the Union cemetery.
Pallbearers were his two sons and four sons-in-law, Orvin and Rueben Litka, Edwin and Oscar Bauer, Archie Komis and Paul Otto. Flower girls were Valeria, Eilene, Dorothy and Berdean Bauer, Kathleen and Kathryn Komis, Mavis Otto Beverly Pieper, Jane Smith, Lilas Schoch, Eileen Foelske and Mrs. Dan Ellison.
Those from away were Mr. and Mrs. Archie Komis and family, Mr. and Mrs. Orvin Litka and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Otto, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hetzel, Mr. and Mrs. George Hetzel and Mr. and Mrs. John H. Fina, all of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Leonard of Hartford, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Melius and Mrs. Bertha Pickruhn, Greenwood, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bauer and family of Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lydiksen of Unity, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Komis and Mr. and Mrs. John Wisnosky of Abbotsford, and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Bauer and family of Marshfield.
The Tribune adds its sympathy to that of friends and neighbors to the bereaved relatives.
