Rossow, Bertha #2 (17 JUL 1863 - 15 OCT 1944)

Mrs. Bertha Rossow, a pioneer resident of the Raleigh vicinity for 38 years, passed away at the home of her daughter, Helen Rossow, on Oct.15 at Eatonville, Wash., with whom she had been living for the past 14 years.

Bertha Tena Krause was born on July 17, 1863. She became a child of God at infancy by Holy baptism. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the age of 12.

She was married to Carl E. Rossow on Apr. 6, 1879, at Greenwood, Wis., to which union were born 13 children. Her husband and two children preceded her in death.

Mr. and Mrs. Rossow resided at Greenwood until 1905, when the family moved to Raleigh, where her husband passed away.

Bertha Rossow continued to reside there with her family until they married and moved away, then living with her daughter, Helen, at Flasher until 1942, when they moved to Eatonville, where she resided until her death.

She was a member of the American Lutheran church at Flasher, the Order of Eastern Star at Mandan and the Rebekahs at Raleigh.

She passed away at the age of 81 years, two months and 27 days.

She leaves to mourn her passing 11 children, six daughters and five sons.

The daughters are: Miss Helen Rossow of Eatonville, Wash.; Mrs. Alvina Wehrman of Greenwood, Wis.; Mrs. Gusta Boyd of Fennimore, Wis.; Mrs. Ella Besch of Eatonville, Wash.; Mrs. Rogena Fritz of Mobridge, S. D., and Mrs., Clara Wanamaker of Lancaster, Wis.

The sons are: Avault of Freda; Rinholt of Olympia, Wash.; Frederick of Portland, Ore.; Arthur of Flasher, and Rudolph of Meridian, Ida. She also leaves one brother, Carl F. Krause, and one sister, Mrs. Tillie Bass both of Granton, Wis.; 44 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren to mourn her loss. Three of the grandchildren are in the armed services.

Interment was made in the Mountain View cemetery at Tacoma, Wash., on Oct. 21. The pallbearers were the five sons and Harry Boyd, a grandson.

Those from out of town attending the funeral were Mrs. Alvina Wehrman of Greenwood, Wis.; Mrs. Rogena Fritz of Mobridge, S. D.; Avault Rossow of Freda, N. D.; Arthur Rossow of Falsher, N. D.; Fred Rossow of Portland, Ore.; Rudolph Rossow of Meridian, Ida., and Rinholt Rossow and family of Olympia, Wash.
