Rose, Martha (16 November 1886 - 9 April 1971)
Funeral services for Mrs.
Martha Rose, 84, of Rt. 1 Granton, who died April 9 at Marshfield, were held
Monay, April 12, at 2 p.m. from Zion American Lutheran Church in the Town of
Grant. The Rev. Daniel Litzer of Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville
officiated and interment was in Windfall Cemetery at Granton. The Gilbertson
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Rose, the former Martha
Krause, was born November 16, 1886, in the Town of Lynn. She lived on a farm in
the Town of York and also in the Town of Grant, and had resided on a farm in the
Town of Lynn since 1939. Her marriage to Elmer Rose took place in Neillsville on
May 23, 1908. He died on May 20, 1941. She was a member of Zion American
Lutheran Church in the Town of Grant.
Survivors include a daughter, Miss
Iva Rose of Owen; two sons, Glen Rose of Spencer and Grant Rose of Granton; two
sisters, Mrs. Ed Ure of Junction City and Mrs. Arthur Marg of Marion, Ia.; and a
brother, Martin C. Krause of Granton. There also are 10 grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Arnold Nitschke, Louie Breseman,
Leland Bass, Norman Wesenberg, Ervin Krause, and Leslie Keuer. The congregation
sang “Nearer My God to Thee” and “Abide with me.” Mrs. Fred Blaskowski was the
organist.
