Vorland, Gorton #2 (1908 - 11 JUN 1951)
Gorton Vorland, 43, Colby attorney, was found dead in his garage with a 12-gauge shotgun by his side, by his wife about midnight Monday. Clark County Coroner John Bergeman listed the death as suicide.
Mrs. Vorland began looking for her husband after a call from an attorneys’ group at Medford, where Vorland was supposed to be attending a meeting. She had been shopping in Wausau during the afternoon, and had left the car in front of the home upon her return.
Bergeman reported that Vorland had been dead from three to four house when he examined the body at 12:30 p.m. Sheriff Frank Dobes, District Attorney Clarence Gorsegner, and Lawrence Dusso, country traffic officer, helped investigate after they were called at 12:30 a.m.
Vorland, a veteran of World War II, had been in ill health. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, four. The body was taken to the Lulloff Funeral Home at Colby, Wis.
