Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at St. John’s Lutheran church in Riplinger for Mrs. Earl Kern who died at the age of 70 years at her home in the town of Colby, Wis. Rev. B. F. Matter officiated at the services after which the body was taken to Waterloo, Iowa, where burial rites were conducted.
Pall bearers were Carl Domer, Leo Domer, Bernard Neuman, Henry Kuesel, Arthur Kuester and Riley Neuman.
Amelia Bender was born on May 10, 1891, at Waterloo, Iowa, and received her education at Mound Vernon, Iowa. She married Earl Kern at Waterloo on May 15, 1907. They came to the town of Colby 10 years ago and engaged in farming.
Surviving are her husband; three children, Clarence Kern of Independence, Ore., Mrs. Edgar Philips of Jessup, Iowa, and Mrs. [one line missing] Iowa; nine grand children; 16 great grand children; one great, great grand child; two brothers.
