Dorothy Grassman, 92, of Neillsville, formerly of Granton, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at the Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville.
Dorothy Grassman was born May 28, 1916, in Granton, the daughter of William and Ella (Williams) Dahlke. She was united in marriage to John Grassman June 7, 1937, in the Town of Lynn. She was struck with polio at a young age, leaving her unable to work outside of the home. She was told she would never walk again. However, she was bound and determined she would and eventually she did. Dorothy enjoyed going to her brother’s farm by Marshfield and helping with the meals, picking strawberries and gardening. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to Colorado to sell Christmas trees. She enjoyed baking and making pies and she loved riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
Dorothy was a member of the Zion American Evangelical Lutheran Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Connie Reno of Duncan, OK; three grandchildren, Joy, Joshua and Johnny; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Leolene Winn of Wisconsin Rapids and Adeline Dahlke of the Town of Lynn.
