Dick, Bernard V. Sr. (9 March 1935 – 30 January 2024)

Bernard V. Dick Sr. 88, Mosinee, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, with his family by his side.

Bernard was born on March 9, 1935, son of the late Jacob and Marion (Fischer) Dick. He married Geraldine Gliniecki on Oct. 25, 1958, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Little Rose; she preceded him in death on August 6, 2014.

Yes, you read his easy to pronounce last name correctly and as Bernie would boom , “I’m the only walking, talking one you’ll ever see!”. Though that’s not quite correct. He was born the third of 17 children: Gerald, Alice, Barbara Joy, John (Hunts), Mary, Lawrence, Frances, Margaret, Teresa, Virgeen, Jacob, Daniel, Kathy, Joseph, Lorraine, Robert.

Bernie traveled across the US as a “Highway Transportation Engineer”. Driving semi for Glendenning, Haupt Contract Carriers, and SNE. As much as he enjoyed his adventures on the road, the best part of his week was coming home to our cartwheels and cheers as he rolled down the driveway.

Many will remember Bernie’s quick wit, mischievous grin, and infectious laugh. And we can’t forget all the Bernie-isms shared throughout the years … pee pumpkin (watermelon), dog nuts (donut holes), Granty (grandma), munkus boys/girls (his grandkids), brother long nose (collie dog) … to name a few. To know Bernie was to get a nickname. All who met him were blessed with one. Bernie loved the outdoors, deer hunting, and holding court at deer camp. His echoing, opening day, call of “Daylight in the swamp, poys!” will hit differently this year. He enjoyed his horses and owned a few Arabians along with a Percheron/Quarter horse he trained to skid logs out of the woods where his tractor couldn’t go.

Dad, you’ve taken us on one heck of a ride. Thanks for all the memories and life lessons. Your values and creative, straight forward way of seeing the world lives in us. We love you. It’s time for you to make your final drive home to cartwheels and hugs from Mom, Logan, and the rest of your family who have been waiting patiently for you. Rest easy. 10-4. We’ll see you on the flip side.

Survivors include one son, Bernard (Angie) Dick Jr, Marathon; three daughters, Valerie (Rick) Christiansen, Ringle, Linda (Randy) Christiansen, Weston, and Michele (John) Sitko, Kronenwetter; grandchildren, Lindsey, Jenna and Sam Dick, Raymond, Royce and Rueben Christiansen, Radney, Ross and Rock Christiansen and Jesslynn and Jayde Sitko; great grandchild, Paige Mueller.

Bernard was preceded in death by a grandson, Logan Dick, 4 brothers, Gerald, John (Hunts), Dan, Robert and 1 sister, Lorraine.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, February 16, 2024, at St Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee, at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Aaron Becker will officiate. Visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service all at the church. Beste Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Meihack, Roger William “Rog” (30 April 1940 – 8 February 2024) With Flag

Roger William Meihak, affectionately known as "Rog", passed away peacefully on February 8, 2024, at the age of 83. He was surrounded by his loving family at his home in Forest Lake, Minnesota.

Roger was born on April 30, 1940, in Neillsville, to William and Clara Meihak. Growing up on a farm, Roger developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He was baptized at Pine Valley Lutheran Church. He attended Hillside School and later graduated from Neillsville High School. Roger's passion for electronics led him to pursue further education in the field. Rog proudly served in the United States Air Force Reserve. He studied propeller repair and was honorably discharged after six years of service.

Roger’s first job was at Fullerton Lumber Company where he hauled coal for $1 an hour. In his professional life, Roger found fulfillment as a Xerox technician. For 28 years, he dedicated his time and expertise to the Xerox industry. Colleagues remember him for his unwavering commitment and willingness to go above and beyond to help others.

Beyond his professional achievements, Roger was a devoted family man. In 1968, he married the love of his life, Lois Barton. They met during a dance at Schlief’s Little City. Always quick witted, when Lois introduced herself, Rog replied by telling her “On the farm, I had a cute Guernsey cow named Lois.” They built a beautiful life together, residing in their cherished home in Forest Lake, Minnesota, surrounded by five acres of serene landscape. Roger and Lois shared countless treasured memories and adventures, but their most prized possession was their unwavering love for one another.

Throughout their lives, Roger and Lois had a passion for travel. Exploring the scenic wonders of different states and countries brought them immense joy. Travel adventures to Mexico, The Caribbean, China, Alaska, Scandinavia, Morocco, and Turkey created lasting memories.

Roger's zest for life extended beyond his personal endeavors and into his community. He was a beloved figure in his neighborhood, known for his selflessness and kind-hearted nature. Always ready to lend a helping hand, Roger’s neighbors fondly referred to their community as “Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood”. His compassionate acts and unwavering generosity touched the lives of many, making him an inspiration to all who knew him.

In reflecting on his life, Roger expressed gratitude for surviving heart surgery at the age of 75. He considered it a second chance to help others and make a difference in the lives of those around him. His mission in life was clear: to selflessly serve the community until the very end.

Roger will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Lois, who was his rock and soul mate throughout their 55 years of marriage. He leaves behind his cherished memories with his devoted sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Connie (Kent) Effinger, nieces, Carol (Wendell) Chamberlin, Jeanene (Denny) Zimdars, Kathy (Ron) Kohner, Kelly (Luke) Rogers; nephews, Rick Buchsteiner, Brian (Chris) Storm, Kyle (Tina) Effinger; and many other family and friends who admired him greatly. Stucki, Barbara Martha (3 April 1931 – 1 February 2024)

Barbara Martha Stucki (Rude), 92, of Manchester, Michigan, passed away of natural causes on February 1, 2024. She was born on April 4, 1931, to John J. and Lorena Bertha (Kuehl) Rude and grew up in Neillsville, WI.

Barbara (Barb, Mom, Mim, Nan) met her first husband Captain William Ives at Ripon College. They married before he left for the Korean War in February 1952. Their marriage was tragically cut short when her husband was killed by friendly fire.
In 1955, she married William "Bill" Stucki, Ph.D., and over the next 10 years grew her family to five children. Mom was an only child who always wanted to be a part of a big, loud, and loving family - so she created her own.

Barbara was a small business owner, an avid gardener, and a voracious reader. She was an elegant hostess and wonderful chef, and always made holidays and family gatherings special and memorable. After her husband Bill retired, she came into her own as an antiques dealer, and opened the popular Raisin Valley Antiques in the Manchester Mill, which she ran with the help of her family for several years. She was a lifelong learner, infinitely curious, and was able to live independently until the time of her death. She lived for her family, and passed away at home surrounded by her five children.

She is survived by her children William Mackey Ives of Manchester, Martha Williams (Timothy) of Ann Arbor, Rebecca Stucki of Manchester, Paul Stucki (Chistina Chang) of Seattle, Washington, and David Stucki (Nancy) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her seven grandchildren Eric (Sunaree Marshall) Mackres, Stephanie (Ben) Mackres Cusick, Lydia (Alex) Dahl, Anna and Ava Stucki, William and Eleanor Chang-Stucki, step-granddaughter Michelle (Thomas) Ambrose; and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, William M. Ives, her second husband, William P. Stucki, and her parents Lorena and John Rude.

A memorial has been scheduled for 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday March 3, 2024, at the Manchester Historical Society (KJ Building), 302 E Main St, Manchester, MI 48158.

In lieu of flowers, please give blood, donate to your local hospice, plant a tree, or donate to Washtenaw Literacy.
