Buttke, Wesley A. (11 October 1938 - 3 March 2009) With Flag

Wesley Buttke, 70, of Neillsville died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at his home.

Wesley A. Buttke was born Oct. 11, 1938, in Black River Falls, the son of Arthur and Esther Buttke. While attending high school, Wesley joined the National Guard. He graduated from Alma Center high school and then worked in the box factory in Black River Falls. He was united in marriage to Donna Kennedy Oct. 22, 1966, in Alma Center. After marriage they lived in West Allis, Alma Center, Merrillan, and Greenwood, before moving to Neillsville in 1978. Wesley worked for many years at Neilson Filter and Muffler factory in Neillsville. Just before retiring from Nelson in 2002, he and Donna purchased Donna’s Cozy Kitchen in downtown Neillsville.

When Wesley was not working he enjoyed camping and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; two daughters, Sherlene (Rick) Oldham of Neillsville and Renee (Roger) Waltemate of Neillsville; seven grandchildren, Christopher Oldham, Courtney Oldham, Brittany Waltemate, Zachary Waltemate, Jacob Waltemate, Ryan Waltemate and Black Peterson; five great-grandchildren, Logan Oldham, Landon Oldham, Trevor Oldham, Scott Waltemate and Bailey Waltemate. Wesley is also survived by a brother, Kerry (Ruth) Buttke of New Mexico and a sister, Lois (Jim) Shoemaker of Alma Center.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie, and his parents.

Funeral Services for Wesley will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2009, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Joe Weiers will officiate. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded by the Neillsville Veterans Council. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville.

The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Wesley’s family with funeral arrangements.
