Mr. Schalow was born June 24, 1937, a son of the late Lester E. and Marion (Helmke) Schalow. He attended Stratford elementary schools and graduated from Marshfield Senior High School in 1955.
Lester was united in marriage to the former Shirley Seehafer on Aug. 25, 1962, at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Mr. Schalow entered the U.S. Navy on Dec. 29, 1955, and was honorably discharged on Oct. 27, 1957.
Mr. Schalow was employed at the Weyerhaeuser Corporation. He retired in 1999 after 43 years of service. His position at retirement was finishing supervisor.
Mr. Schalow’s faith was very important in his life. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, attended Bible study and was a member of the Board of Lay Ministry.
Lester cherished the time he could spend with his son and grandchildren. His son, Michael, is a teacher/basketball coach, and his grandsons play, so one of Lester’s favorite pastimes was attending games and cheering them all on.
In retirement, he enjoyed vacationing and traveling with his wife, Shirley, golfing and fishing with his buddies, as well as experimenting in the kitchen with cooking and grilling out.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Shirley, Marshfield; one son, Michael (Dawn) Schalow, Sherwood; and two grandsons, Jacob and Kyle. One brother, Verlyn (Mary) Schalow, Marshfield; and three sisters, Donna (Bob) Lutz, Marshfield; Bonnie (Dick) Lutz, Marshfield; and Cheri Sholes, Roberts, Wis.; three brothers-in-law, Elmer Seehafer, Douglas (Julie) Seehafer and Kenneth (Karen) Seehafer, all of Marshfield; and two sisters-in-law, Sharon (Bill) Satorius, Plymouth, Ind., and Gloria (David) Wilen, Chicago, further survive Lester.
