Slupski, Sophie (4 MAR 1866 - 18 OCT 1951)
Last rites were conducted by Rev. Francis Piekarski at St. Hedwig’s Church at ten o’clock Monday morning, Oct. 22nd, for Mrs. Sophie Slupski, 85, who passed away of old age infirmities at Chicago, Ill., on Oct. 18, 1951.
Sophie Chilewicz was born in Poland on March 4, 1866. She was united in marriage there on Sept. 8, 1884 to Stanley Slupski. They came to America in August 1893 and resided at Chicago. On June 1, 1897, they moved on the farm four miles east of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) which they operated for many years and brought up a large family of children. She also resided in the city of Thorp for several years but recently has been living with her children.
Her husband passed away in August 1939. Surviving relatives are: one son, Leon of Mount Prospect, Ill., five daughters, Edna, Mrs. John Alfuth, Stevens Point, Josephine, Mrs. Frank Hoffman, Thorp, Anna, Mrs. Phil Ziokowski, Elizabeth, Mrs. Mike Bronars, and Mrs. Hattie Dvmek of Chicago; thirty grandchildren and twenty-six great-grand children. Two sons, Thomas and Louis preceded her in death.
Interment took place in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery. Five grandchildren and one great-grandson served as pallbearers.
