Sawka, Proc (10 MAR 1892 - 8 NOV 1951)
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Bilak at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the Town of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) at 10:00 o’clock Monday morning, Nov. 12th, for Proc Sawka, 59, of Lublin, who died of a heart attack Thursday evening. Death occurred after the attack while in an ambulance on the way to the Stanley hospital.
Mr. Sawka was born in Austria on March 10, 1892. He came to America while still a young man and was united in marriage to Mary Karowicz in New York on Jan. 22, 1910. He resided with his wife and family in New York and Minneapolis before coming to this community and locating on a farm northeast of Thorp in the year 1921.
He leaves to mourn, his wife, Mary, two sons, John of Lublin and Pfc. Bud Sawka in the Air Forces in New Mexico; five daughters, Ann, Mrs. Michael Porotko, Mary, Mrs. Robert Hildebrandt, Celia, Mrs. Harry Aronson and Helen, Mrs. John Mroz, all of St. Paul, and Olga, Mrs. Frank Knusta of Lublin.
He was laid to rest in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers were Steve and Joseph Kudingo, John and Walter Tyznik, Daniel Troz and John Lew.
Persons from out of town who were her to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Paulson and Mrs. Milo Lee of St. Paul and Mr. and Mrs. John Figura of Kennan, Wis.
