Southard, Lena (4 June 1891 - 5 May 1971)

Mrs. John E. Southard, 79, of Appleton, died there May 5, following a five months’ illness. Lena Southard, the daughter

of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Davis, was born June 4, 1891, in Vernon County and lived in Neillsville area for several

years after her marriage. Later she had resided in Marshfield for 30 years and had spent the last 20 years in Appleton

where she lived with her daughter.

Mrs. Southard was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and of its Women’s Prayer Band and Adult

Good-fellowship class.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Maxine) Winkler of Appleton; a son, Gerald W. Southard of Appleton; a step-
daughter, Mrs. Wallace (Janet) Arlozinski of Frt. Lauderdale, Fla.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She

is further survived by a brother, Ira Davis of Milwaukee. Mrs. Southard was the aunt of Mrs. Gladys Gillard of Neillsville

and of Mrs. Hugh Selves of Black River Falls.

The Rev. Richard W. Colenso officiated at an evening service in Appleton and at the 2 p.m. Saturday service at the

Neillsville United Methodist Church. Interment was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Vocal music at the service was provided by the Rev. and Mrs. Bob Davis of Windsor. Mrs. James Musil was the organist.
