Arthur (27 March 1919 - 28 April 1971)
Funeral services for Ralph Arthur
Bauer, 52, of Neillsville, who died here April 28, were held Friday, April 30,
at 10:30 a.m. from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. The Rev. Charles
D. Brady and the Rev. Leander Koopman of Greenwood officiated. Burial was made
in St. Mary’s Cemetery. A general Rosary service was conducted Thursday evening
at the Georgas Funeral home, where the body of Mr. Bauer was in state.
Ralph Bauer, the son of Frank and Catherine (Koestner) Bauer, was born march 27,
1919, in Medford, where he received his education, after graduation from Medford
High School he worked at a dairy plant then entered the Army on May 13, 1941, in
Milwaukee. He served in the southwest Pacific with an anti-aircraft battalion,
attaining the rank of corporal, and was discharged at Camp McCoy on October 26,
1945. Mr. Bauer went to work for the Fullerton Lumber Company shortly thereafter
and received recognition last year for 25 years of service to the company, the
pas 18 years as manager.
His marriage to the former Annabelle Gassen
took place November 19, 1941, in Neillsville. He was a member of St. Mary’s
Catholic Church in Neillsville and of the Holy Name Society, of the Neillsville
Kiwanis Club, of Haugen-Richmond Post No. 73 of the American Legion, and of the
Northwestern Lumberman’s Association.
Survivors, in addition to his
wife, Annabelle, include four children: Michael Bauer of Milwaukee, Mrs. Robert
(Kathleen) Barth of Neillsville, Mary Jane Bauer of Wisconsin Rapids, and
Patrick Bauer of Neillsville; seven sisters: Mrs. Estelle Lamer of Tomahawk,
Miss Amelia Bauer, Mrs. Theresa McQuillen and Mrs. Vincent (Katherine) Ackeret
of Medford, Mrs. Carl (Margaret) Holzworth of Rib Lake, Mrs. Glenn (Mary) Resesh
of Abbotsford and Mrs. Eugene (Frances) Laisseg of Stratford; three brothers,
Alvin and Jack Bauer of Medford and Frank Bauer of Indianapolis, Ind.; and one
grandchild.
Pallbearers were Everett Skroch, Jim Jordahl, Garald Hart,
Joe Urban, Melvin Marg, and Matt Gassen.
