Matti, James “Jim” D. (30 March 1933 - 29 October 2013)

James “Jim” D. Matti, 80, of Humbird passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at Black River Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born to Adolf and Nellie (Dimmitt) Matti on March 30, 1933, rural Humbird. Shirley Gruper and Jim were united in marriage June 23, 1956, in Chicago, IL. He was employed at American Motors and they then moved to Humbird, where he farmed and worked as a licensed cheesemaker at Ludeman’s South Alma Cheese Factory for over 30 years.

Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to Arizona. Jim loved spending time with his family.

Jim is survived by his wife Shirley; three children, Rick (Beth), Mike (Trudy), Barb (Mark) all of Humbird, seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janice Matthews; and two brothers, George “Bob” and Richard “Dick” Mattie, Sr.

Private services will be held at a later date. Smith Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
