Granton (6 May 1971)
The W.S.C.S. of the Granton United Methodist Church is to meet this
(Thursday) afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Verla Hales. Mabel
Williams will be the program chairman.
Mrs. Letha Ganther will speak on
the subject of antiques at the monthly meeting of the Granton Civic club. The
meeting is scheduled for Tuesday evening, May 11 at 8 p.m. in the school
cafeteria.
The Women’s Missionary Legue of Zion Lutheran Church in
Granton is to meet this (Thursday) evening at 8 p.m. in the church. The group
will begin anew study topic, with the Rev. Roland Roehrs as the topic leader.
Mrs. Otto Sternitzky will be the hostess.
The Zion Ladies Aid was to have
its regular monthly meeting Wednesday afternoon a t the church. Hostesses were
to be Mrs. Arnold Garbisch and Mrs. Leland Garbisch. Rev. Roehrs was to lead the
topic.
Mrs. Leland Hansen left Friday for Bartlett, Ill., to spend a few
days at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr and Mrs. Harry Helwig and
her new grandson and two-year-old granddaughter.
Visitors Sunday at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Garbisch were her nephew and his family Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Rounds and children of Brandon, Manitoba. The Rounds stopped on their
way home from visiting other relatives in Illinois.
Mr. and Mrs. John
Salzer of Wausau were visitors during last week at the Clarence Ganther and
Floyd Pietenpol homes. On the 28th the Salzers, Mrs. Elaine Walters of
Marshfield, Miss Ruth Pietenpol, and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Pietenpol gathered at
the Ganther home for a dinner in observance of Mr. Pietenpol’s 83 rd birthday.
Mrs. Daniel Garbisch has returned to her home after a stay in St.
Joseph’s Hospital.
Mr and Mrs. William Schmidtke were guests Sunday at a
surprise birthday party in observance of the 90th birthday of her aunt, Mrs. R.
K. Stevens. The party was held at the home of Mrs. Stevens’ son and
daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Stevens in Loyal.
Mr. and Mrs.
Roger Helm and family were dinner guests Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Lutz in Amherst Junction. The helms plan to entertain this (Thursday)
evening with a family party in honor of the fourth birthday of their daughter,
Lisa.
Guests at the Floyd Pietenpol home this week are Mrs. Pietenpol’s
niece and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Crawford of Victoria, Vancouver
Island, British Columbia.
Miss Elaine Trimberger of Menasha spent the
weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Trimberger.
Miss Ruth
Garbisch, who teaches in a Manawa parochial school, visited with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Garbisch, over the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Fero
returned home Monday from a 10-day visit with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Ralph Ayala and family, in Chicago. Mrs. Harvey Johnson visited Monday
evening at the Fero home.
Mrs. Ottelia Hoeft and Mrs. Ray Hoeft of
Granton and Mrs. Dale Braatz of Wausau attended a mother-daughter banquet at
Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield Sunday evening. They were guests of Mrs.
Marie Hanson.
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Braatz and Kimberly of Wausau spent the
weekend at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hoeft, and attended the
Beilke-Humphrey wedding Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in the Town of Grant.
