Gregory, DeWayne Charles (11 July 1904 - 1 Nov. 1961)
DeWayne Charles (Dick) Gregory died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 6:00 A.M. Masonic funeral services will be held at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby this Thursday night at 8:30 P.M. and Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at the Hansen Funeral Home in Kenosha where burial will be made.
Mr. Gregory was born in Salem, Wis., July 11, 1904, thus reaching the age of 57 years. When he was seven years old, he moved with his parents to Kenosha. He was a member of the Police Department at LaGrange, Ill., for nearly 20 years and reached the rank of sergeant. He engaged in farming at Hoopston and Wadena, Indiana, for four or five years and came to Colby in 1948 and operated a hardware store here ever since.
He was a member of the Methodist church, the Colby Chamber of Commerce, of which he served as president one term and of the Colby Masonic Lodge of which he was junior warden at the time of his death.
Surviving Mr. Gregory are three sons, Richard and Robert (twins), age 15 years, and Randy, age 10 years; two sisters and one brother. One sister preceded him in death.
