Corey, Leah (5 December 1903 - 6 May 1971)
Mrs.
Lee L. Corey, 67, of Greenwood died May 6 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in
Marshfield, where she was admitted April 23 following a heart attack.
Leah L. Noah, daughter of Simon and Mathilda (Pagenkopf) Noah, was born December
5, 1903, in Greenwood. She graduated in 1922 from Loyal High School and was a
graduate of La Crosse Teachers College. She taught in the Greenwood and Willard
areas. She was married July 25, 1927, in Wabasha, Minn., to Howard L. Corey. He
died in November 1956.
Mrs. Corey was a resident of Greenwood for 43
years; a 50-year Royal Neighbor member; a charter member of the American Legion
Auxiliary; member of the Order of Eastern Star; Zion United Church of Christ and
presently was treasurer of the Zion Women’s Guild.
Surviving are two
sons, Gary Corey of Neillsville and Jack Corey of Sioux Falls, S. D.; five
grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Martha Nelson of Gardena, Calif.; and four
brothers, Arthur of Neillsville, William of Oshkosh, Alvin of Minneapolis, and
Rudy of Milwaukee.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Zion United
Church of Christ. The Rev. David Logue officiated. Burial was made in the
Greenwood Cemetery.
