Linster, Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse (Golden - 4 May 1971)
Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Linster of Neillsville observed their Golden wedding
anniversary at their home on Tuesday May 4. The Linsters were married 50 years
earlier on that date by Father Weber of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in
Neillsville. They immediately took up residence on their farm near Christie in
the Town of Weston. They lived there until their retirement in 1960.
Alphonse Linster, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Linster, was born in
Bakerville. He moved to a farm in the Town of Weston as a small boy and resided
there until the time of his marriage. Mrs. Linster, the former Mabel Keller, was
born in Helenville on March 6, 1899, and came to Clark County at the age of
three with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Keller. The family settled on a
farm in the Town of Levis. She attended Neillsville High School and graduated
from Teachers Training in 1917. Mrs. Linster, who was living in the city of
Neillsville at the time of her marriage, taught rural schools in the towns of
Sherwood and Weston.
The Linsters are the parents of two sons. Allen is
an instructor and guidance counselor at Plymouth High School. John is engaged in
farming on the family farm in the Town of Weston. There are four grandchildren,
Amy, David, Jane, and Daniel. Both families spent some time with the Linsters
last week.
Mrs. Linster is a member of the United Methodist Church at
Neillsville and is very active in church work. She has been a member of the
church and of its Women’s Society of Christian Service for over 50 years, and is
also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Alphonse is a member of
St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Neillsville and of the local American Legion Post.
Both the Linsters are able to enjoy life and to enjoy fair health.
