Thomley, Charlotte #2 (31 DEC 1905 - 2 JUL 1949)
Charlotte McCarthy, daughter of Almond and Jessie Barr McCarthy, was born in Longwood (Clark Co., Wis.) on Dec. 31, 1905.
She attended school in Longwood and graduated from the Greenwood High School in 1924 and from the State Teachers College at Stevens Point in 1928, and was a Home Economics teacher at Whitehall for 10 years before her marriage to Laurence Thomley.
She passed away at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac, on Saturday, July 2, 1949 following an illness of many months. Her home was at 428 Linden St., Fond du Lac.
The body was brought to the Stabnow Funeral Home at Greenwood on Tuesday, July 5 and funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. from the Methodist Church and she was laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery.
During the service Howard Seibold sang "In the Garden" and "Going Home," accompanied by Mrs. Don Warner.
She is survived by her husband, her mother, Mrs. Jessie McCarthy, Saginaw, Mich.; two brothers, Justin and Allen of Fond du Lac, Wis.; two sisters, Mrs. Howard (Violet) McCarthy and Elizabeth of Saginaw, Mich.; Her father and a brother preceded her in death.
The pallbearers were: Elmer Jackson, Calvin Franz, Adolph Jackson, Art Swenson and Adolph and Edgar Wendt.
Those from away that attended the funeral were Mrs. Jessie McCarthy, Miss Elizabeth McCarthy, Mr. and Mrs. Hoard Farwell, Saginaw, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Allen McCarthy, Mr. and Mrs. Justin McCarthy, Fond du Lac; Mr. and Mrs. James Fradette, Mrs. Bowen, Mrs. Ray Shaw, Mrs. Robert Hopfer and Charles Barr, Neillsville; Mrs. Jos. Brauneis, Faribault, Minn.; Mrs. Robert Nyeland, Muscado, Mrs. John Awe, Mrs. John Bowen, Withee; and many relatives from Osseo and Whitehall.
