Vates, Louise Mariam (3 September 1873 - 2 August 1951)
Miss Louise Mariam Vates, 77, a Greenwood pioneer resident, has been buried in the Greenwood Cemetery following her death on Thursday, August 2, at the Bethel Convalescent Home.
Miss Vates was born Sept. 3, 1873, at Danville, Ill., and came to Greenwood with her parents when she was six. She had been in failing health for several years.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Lee Holmes at the Grace Methodist Church in Greenwood on Sunday, August 5.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and a sister. Four cousins, all of Danville, Ill., survive.
