August Below passed away at the home of his son, Dwight Below, Dec. 11th, 1949, at 6:15 p.m., having succumbed to a heart attack. He had suffered a stroke Feb. 19, 1949. He reached a good age and death came at 88 years and 23 days.
He leaves to mourn his death, a daughter, Mrs. V. C. Becker of Schenectady, N.Y., two sons, Alfred Balow of Eau Claire and Dwight Balow of Colby, Route 1; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Milton Roundy of Wabasha, Minn.
August Balow was engineer at the John S. Owen Lumber Co. until his retirement a few years ago. Since the death of his wife, five years and four months ago, he has made his home with his son, Dwight.
Funeral services were conducted from the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin), Owen, at one o’clock Wednesday, Dec. 14, with Lillian Jensen, Abbotsford, officiating. Burial was made in Lake View Cemetery at Eau Claire.
Pallbearers were: Julius Johnson, Charles Pyatt, Ed Prock and Elwin Powers.
