Mr. and Mrs. George Gemmeke arrived home from Chicago on Monday.
Mrs. Ray Knutsen of Chicago is visiting here at the home of her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. P.E. Peterson.

W.W. Brown returned from Fremont and is visiting
here at the home of his son, Louis Brown and family.
Dan Gates and family
moved into part of the Harry Hogue residence Tuesday.
Mr. A. Liebzeit on
route two has the misfortune to lose a pony Monday afternoon. The horse dropped
dead on the street near the Methodist Church.
Dance at the Christie Hall
Friday night, April 20, 1926. For the benefit of the Mound School Boys and Girls
Club. Music by Sam Perkins Orchestra.
Mrs. F. Hepburn and Mrs. F.G.
MacLachlan entertained at 500 at the Hepburn home Monday evening. Mrs. M.E.
Kenyon won first prize, Mrs. Arnold Beyer second prize, and Mrs. A.J. Currie
consolation prize.
Rain Saturday cleared the air of smoke, which has been
in evidence in all sections of the city the past week as residents burned grass
and old rubbish which accumulated over the winter months. Added to the smoke
created by city folks, were the many grass and brush fires raging on farms in
wooded sections in this vicinity.
The Public Library will close at 8:00
o'clock Saturday, May 1st instead of 9:00 o'clock.
Mrs. Florence Hall of
Chicago arrived Friday for a visit with her brother, J.S. Andrews and family.
Mr. Almond and Justin McCarty of Longwood spent Sunday at the A.C. Barr
home.
The Ladies Aid will meet with Mrs. C.H. Zimmerman Friday afternoon,
April 30th.
Dance -- At the Will Syth farm, Thursday, April 29th. Good
music and good floor.
Jay Cronin left Tuesday for North Dakota, where he
will play ball during the summer.
Mr. and Mrs. Timm of eau Claire spent
Thursday of last week here at the Frank Hepburn home.
Mrs. A.C. Barr, son
Charles and daughter viola were Owen callers Friday and met another daughter
Hazel, who teaches near Curtiss, and who spent the weekend at home.

Harry Hogue entertained
the :Gang" at his home Saturday evening.
Mrs. C.C. Hoehne of Madison was
an over Sunday visitor here with her family.
Raymond Walters of Wausau
spent Friday here at the Jos. Merkel home.
Emil Josie and son autoed up
from Chicago Sunday and are spending the week at the Joie farm near the Eau
Claire River.
George Haeuser and family are at Dorchester attending the
funeral of Mr. Haeuser's father, who died Sunday afternoon.
The Hoffman
auction sale of household goods, etc., which was to be held last Saturday, had
to be postponed on account of the bad weather, and will be held this afternoon,
Thursday, April 29th. The sale will start promptly at 1:30 o'clock.
Miss
Leona Francis arrived here Saturday, called by the death of her grandfather,
D.S. Francis.
The West Side Ladies Aid will meet with Mrs. Will Steiger,
Wednesday, May 5th.
Miss Mildred Laabs, who has been working at Oshkosh,
returned home last week to spend the summer with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
Laabs on route two.
Mrs. Fannie Wollenberg of Madison and Herbert A.
Francis of Eau Claire were called here last Friday by the sudden death of their
father, D.S. Francis.
Dance -- At the Matt Bombach place Saturday
evening, May 1st. Come and have a good time. Good Orchestra. Everybody is
welcome.
Mrs. Walter Stabnow went to Marshfield Monday to visit her
mother, Mrs. Mary Gries, who is a patient at the hospital there.
The
Misses Alma Meinholdt, Lillian and Hulda Stoelting of Milwaukee were over
Sunday, visitors from Sheboygan.
Mrs. J. Volk went to Allen Tuesday for a
few days visit at the home of her son Alonzo.
