Stettler, Fred Sr. (1867 - 5 August 1951)

Fred Stettler, Sr., who died at his home in Colby, Wisconsin on Sunday August 5, was interred at the cemetery at Fountain City on Thursday, August 9. Mr. Stettler was 83, and has resided in Colby since 1920.

Mr. Stettler was born in 1867 in Switzerland and came to the United States in 1884, settling near Fountain City. He was married in 1891 to the former Ursula Joos. Mrs. Stettler died in 1943.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Alice Kingsley of Ekalaka, Mont.; five sons, Victor and Fred, Jr., of Colby, Max and Oswald of Winona, Minn., and Oliver of Abbotsford; two sisters, Mrs. Rosena Schaffner and Mrs. Anna Engel of Fountain City; and a brother, Ernest Stettler, Eagle Valley.

Frank Colby Rites At Fountain City

Fountain City, Wis. —(Special)—Funeral services for Frank Colby, 82, who died at Colby, Wis., Sunday, will be held at the Reformed church here at 1:30 p. m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Eagle Valley cemetery.

A service will be held at Colby Wednesday afternoon and the body will be brought here Thursday.

He was born at Canton Berne, Switzerland, November 23,1888. He married Ursula Jost ("Sully" Joos), who has died. Survivors are six children, Mrs. George (Alice) Kingsley, Ekalaka, Mont.; Victor and Fred, Colby; Oliver, Abbotsford, Wis., and Max and Oswald, Winona; one brother, Ernest, Eagle Valley; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Engel and Mrs. Rosiana (Stetler) Schaffner, Fountain City; 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
