Hoppa, Frank Everett (7 August 1874 - 9 August 1951)
Frank Everett Hoppa, age 77, of Route 3 died at the home of his son Arnold on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. The body lay in state at the Bergemann Funeral Home until time of service on Saturday when it was taken to St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m. Father John Novak officiated and burial was made in the Catholic Cemetery at Colby, Wis. Rev. N.B. Beschta of Colby officiated at the graveside service.
Mr. Hoppa was born in German on August 7, 1874. He came to this country with his parents when a small child. He received his education in Chicago.
On July 14, 1895 he was married to Martha Schreiber in Chicago. They resided there for a short time, later moving to Milan, Wis., and then to Colby where they lived until Mrs. Hoppa’s death eleven years ago. Since that time he has made his home with his son, Arnold. Mr. Hoppa was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and of the Holy Name Society.
He is survived by the following children, Arnold of Neillsville, Mrs. A. C. (Margaret) Collier of Santa Cruz, Calif.; Mrs. Donald (Mildred) Schultz, Stratford; Mrs. Herbert (Lucille) Firnstahl of Colby, George Hoppa of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Harold (Rose) Reeves of Abbotsford, 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were: Emmanuel Firnstahls, James Firnstahl, Ferdinand Grap, Paul Hagedorn, Gerry Reeves and Emil Schade.
Relatives and friends from out of town attending the services included, Mr. and Mrs. George Hoppa of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Firnstahl and family of Colby, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schultz and Janice of Stratford, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Reeves and Ronald of Abbotsford, Gerry Reeves of Austin, Minn., Jacob Pischeke of Gary, Ind., Mrs. Florence Kraemer of Gary, Ind., Mrs. Julia Porozynski of Chicago, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mick of Chicago, Mrs. Helen Maruna of Berwyn, Ill., Emil Schade of Sheridan, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Norman Austreng of Stevens Point, Mr. and Mrs. James Firnstahl, Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel Firnstahl., Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hedler of Colby, and Mr. and Mrs. John Schreiber of Milan.
