Stephens, Ida #2 (15 DEC 1877 - 12 MAR 1950)

Ida Johnson was born Dec. 15, 1877 in Norway. She moved to America with her parents at the age of three years, and spent most of her life near Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.).

She was married to William Stephens on Dec. 25, 1894, near Dorchester, Wis. To this union were born eight children. She passed away at the home of her son, Wesley on March 12, 1950 at 11:15 p.m.

She is survived by her husband, four sons, Wesley of Marshfield; Clarence of Owen; Chester of Random Lake and Arnold of St. Paul; four daughters, Mrs. Howard (Nina) Durbin, Withee; Mrs. Warren (Esther) Banks, Waukesha, Wis.; Mrs. Andrew (Ethel) Krug, Owen, and Mrs. Albert (Gladys) Baldwin of Minneapolis. Also 27 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She also leaves to mourn her passing two brothers, Albert Johnson of Chicago and Jake of Curtiss; seven sisters, Anna Hendrickson, Torrington, Wyo.; Minnie Johnson, Rice Lake; Matilda Lapp, Abbotsford; Clara Olson, Readlyn, Canada; Mabel Kind, Greenwood and Nina Johnson, Chippewa Falls. Also a host of friends.

She was an active member of the Lutheran church and the Ladies Aid until she became an invalid 11 years ago.

Funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon at two o’clock from the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Curtiss, with the Rev. O.K. Odland officiating. Burial was made in the parish cemetery. During the services Billy Geary, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Ralph Peterson, sang two vocal numbers, Rock of Ages and "The Old Rugged Cross."

Pallbearers were her four sons, Clarence, Wesley, Arnold and Chester, and two son-in-laws, Andrew Krug and Albert Baldwin.

Serving as flower girls were he granddaughters, Mesdames Virgil Wilke, Clifford Stephens, Hilbert Frese, Randall Anderson and Misses Una Belle Petersen and Beatrice Krug.
