Hare, Lois M. #2 (2 NOV 1914 - 3 MAR 2009)

Lois M. Hare , 94, Greenwood, died on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 7, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Joseph Follmar officiated. Inurnment will take place in St, Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

Lois Margaret Merkel was born on Nov. 2, 1914, in West Bend, to Joseph and Margaret (nee Blum) Merkel. She was raised and received her education in Greenwood where she graduated from Greenwood High School. She married Merril C. "Bunny" Hare on Aug. 26, 1934, in Greenwood. She was a homemaker and raised her six children in Greenwood. In the early 1960s, she went to work for the Greenwood School District, as a cook in the high school. At the same time, she also cleaned the post office. She resided in Greenwood most of her life. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Society, and the Royal Neighbors. She had many interests, but especially enjoyed traveling to visit her children, family and friends, music, eats and dogs, crossword puzzles, bowling, gardening, flowers, baking and cooking, and she loved her house.

Survivors include her children, Corrine (Dick) Larson, Greenwood, Sue Ellen (Jim) Rahm, Greenwood, Margaret (Joe Pagliolo) Hare, Columbia Heights, Minn., Rosemary (Jim Uhren) Hare, Milwaukee, William (Frances Li) Hare, Minneapolis, Minn., and Beth Hare, Oshkosh; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Merril, on Oct. 26, 2006; and one grandson, Michael Larson, on Sept. 23, 1980.
