Joyce L. Behrens, 83, Greenwood, died on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Monday, March 23, at Grace United Methodist Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Dong Su Lee officiated. Inurnment followed in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Joyce Lucille Stoneburg was born on Jan. 2, 1926, in Thompson Falls, Mont., to Louis and Hazel Mae (nee Syth) Stoneburg. She was raised and received her education in Greenwood, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1943. After high school, she moved to Milwaukee and worked for Cutler-Hammer. She moved back to Greenwood and worked for a short time at the Chevrolet dealership and Clark Electric. She married Thomas F. Behrens on April 15, 1950, in Marshfield. She worked at Farmers & Merchants Bank, Greenwood, as a teller from 1966-78. She then worked for Badger State Credit Company, a subsidiary of Farmers & Merchants Bank, until retiring in 1983. After retirement, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, fishing, camping and reading. Her other interests included bowling, playing cards, shaking dice and shopping.
She will dearly be missed by her husband, Tom, Greenwood; five children, Jim (Kaiyan) Behrens, San Diego, Calif., Jan (Dennis Blanchard) Richmond, Black River Falls, Tom (Mary Lou) Behrens, Willard, Tracy (Jack) Nelson, Greenwood, and Jill (Louie) Fortuna, Greenwood; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one grandson, Jimmy Duss; one sister, Wilma Boyce; and one son-in-law, James Richmond.
The family would greatly appreciate memorials be given in her name to Memorial Medical Center & Rehab, Neillsville.
