Mandel, Marlys (Marriage - 11 Aug. 1962)

Miss Marlys Mandel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert H. Mandel, and Duane Riedel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhardt Riedel, were united in marriage Saturday, Aug. 11, at 2:30 P.M., in the First United Church of Christ, Rev. Carl Serr officiating at the nuptial ceremony. The bride’s father gave her in marriage.

Mrs. Kenneth Hansen sang "The Lord’s Prayer" and "The Wedding Prayer" accompanied by Miss Betty Kasper on the organ.

Miss Janet Lemmer of Rothschild was maid of honor and Mrs. Jerome Michlig of Colby, Route 2, and Mrs. Rodney Riedel of Grafton were bridesmaids. The groom was attended by Kenneth Laube of Colby as best man, Jerome Michlig of Colby and Rodney Riedel of Grafton. Ushers were Gene Lemer of Rothschild and Norbert Riedel of Marshfield.

The bride was attired in a traditional bridal gown of silk faced peau de soie, lined with pellon and styled with a train. The molded bodice of the gown was carved to a V at center of the waistline, fashioned with a bateau neckline, embroidered with pearl and tunic bead motifs on front. The back and sleeves were sprinkled with pearls and a border of beads and pearls on the neckline. The long silk sleeves tapered to points over the wrists where they were secured with dainty silk buttons. The gown closed at the back with tiny silk buttons. The flat front skirt fell from into a train from pleats in the back. Candy box bows trimmed the back. The bouffant bridal veil of English silk illusion was secured to a silk organza over taffeta pill box crown with pearls sprinkled on top and orange blossom sprays on brim with three crystal sprays in center. Her bouquet was crescent-shaped and consisted of yellow roses and white stephanotis.

The attendants wore identically styled ballerina length gowns of pure silk organza over taffeta in Nile green. The bodices were styled with fitted midriffs, three-quarter length sleeves and scoop necklines cut to a V in the back. An organza bow was at the waist. The organza skirt was dome shaped with unpressed pleats at the waistline. The crowns are horsehair braid with silk petals around, sequined roses and blush veils of silk illusion to match the color of their dresses. Their crescent-shaped bouquets consisted of yellow spider fugii mums and white pompoms.

A reception was held and a dance was given at the Sportsmen’s Park. Dinner was served at the parish hall. Approximately 250 guests attended. The future address will be 603 North Peach Avenue, Marshfield, Wis.

The bride is a graduate of Wisconsin State College, Whitewater. The groom is a graduate of Taylor County Teacher’s College at Medford, and Wisconsin State College at Stevens Point. Presently, he is doing graduate work at the Wisconsin State College at Superior. The bride is a teacher at Aurburndale and the groom is elementary supervisor of Marshfield Public Schools.
